Traction uses a controlled pulling force intended to reduce load on parts of the spine. The type of traction, amount of force, duration, and whether it is appropriate depend on the patient and the clinical problem.
How It May Fit Into Injury Care
Traction is not appropriate for every neck or back condition, and evidence varies by diagnosis. It should not replace a medical evaluation or an active rehabilitation program when exercise and functional restoration are indicated.
Florida Injury Centers uses a physician-led approach. Treatment may also include therapeutic exercise, physical therapy, chiropractic care, imaging or specialty consultation when clinically appropriate, and structured medical follow-up.
Treatment Should Be Individualized
We evaluate the accident, symptoms, functional limitations, relevant history, medications, and clinical findings before helping coordinate the next steps. The care plan can be adjusted as the patient improves or as new findings become available.
